Share your photo library

Chitra builds your mosaic from your own photos. Everyone ends at the same place — a Google Drive folder you share with us — so just pick the on-ramp below that matches where your photos live today. A little setup now, and the rest is automatic.

Two different photos — don't mix them up

1 · Your library

The thousands of your own photos that become the tiny tiles of the mosaic. This is what you share via Google Drive (below).

2 · Your target photo

The single picture the mosaic forms into. It can be anything — a portrait, a pet, a landmark, the Mona Lisa. It does not need to be part of your library. You upload it separately when you generate.

What you'll need

  • 📸 At least 1,000 photos in your library — more is better. A few thousand gives the richest detail and variety in the final mosaic.
  • 🗂️ A free Google account (for Google Drive) to share the folder.
  • 🖼️ Your original photos — real pictures, not screenshots, memes, or low-res saves.
  • 🎯 One target photo for the mosaic to form into (any image — see above).

Pick your scenario

Where do your photos live right now? Follow the one that fits.

Scenario A · easiest

My photos are already on my computer

You have a folder of photos on your laptop or desktop.

  1. 1Go to drive.google.com and sign in.
  2. 2Click New → Folder upload and choose your photos folder. Wait for it to finish.
  3. 3Share the folder with us (see “Last step” below).
Scenario B · Google Photos

My photos are in Google Photos

Use Google Takeout to export them straight into Google Drive — no manual re-upload.

  1. 1Go to takeout.google.com.
  2. 2Click Deselect all, then scroll down and select only Google Photos.
  3. 3Click Next step. For “Delivery,” choose Add to Drive; file type .zip, size 50 GB.
  4. 4Click Create export and wait for the email.
  5. 5The export lands in a Takeout folder in your Drive. Share that folder with us (below).
⏳ A big library can take a few hours to a day to export — Google emails you when it's ready. You don't need to unzip anything; we handle that.
Scenario C · Apple Photos

I use Apple Photos on a Mac

Export your originals from the Photos app, then upload the folder to Google Drive.

  1. 1Open the Photos app → Edit → Select All (or ⌘A).
  2. 2File → Export → Export Unmodified Originals — this gives the true original files (best for the mosaic).
  3. 3Pick an empty folder on your Mac and export.
  4. 4Upload that folder to Google Drive (New → Folder upload), then share it with us (below).
⚠️ If you use iCloud with “Optimize Mac Storage,” the full-size originals aren't on your Mac yet — exporting will download them first, so make sure you have enough free disk space (or turn on Photos → Settings → iCloud → “Download Originals to this Mac”).

📱 On an iPhone with no Mac?

Easiest path: if you also use Google Photos on your phone, follow Scenario B. Otherwise, in the Photos app: Select All → Share → Save to Files, then upload from the Google Drive app.

Last step · everyone

Share the folder with Chitra

  1. 1In Google Drive, right-click your photos folder → Share.
  2. 2Add chitra.masterpiece@gmail.com as a Viewer and send.
  3. 3Copy the folder link and paste it into the Chitra onboarding form. That's it — we take it from there.
